Due to the global crisis, all economic analysts have reviewed their forecasts regarding the economical growth rate Romania will record next year. All of them are pessimistic but Moody’s analysts even forecast recession in Romania in 2009, even though most analysts claim that there cannot be recession in Romania.
For the last years, except 2006, credits in other currencies have prevailed on the Romanian market due to lower rates of interest. For 2009, financial analysts forecast a move to to credits in the Romanian currency.
According
to statistics published by the European Observatory on Industrial Relations,
employees in Romania and Bulgaria have the highest number of work hours per
week in the entire European Union. Moreover Romania stands among the countries
with the least number of annual holiday days in Europe.

For most of the Romanian people (70%) free time means staying home or managing the household, according to a GfK research study. The research was realized on 2.195 Romanians over 15 years old.

According to a study conducted by the World Bank, Romanians working abroad are estimated to send home 9 billion dollars (7.19 billion Euros), with 32% more than the value sent in 2007, ranking 8th in the top realized by the WB.

A studio flat
located in an old block of flats has reached the value of 60.000 Euros in the
“good areas” of Bucharest as Militari, Drumul Taberei, Vitan or Titan. In May,
the price of a studio flat was 15.000 Euros higher.

According to Eurostat the unemployment rate recorded in September in Romania was 3.9%, with 364.183 official unemployed persons. In the EU the number of jobless persons recorded in the same month was 16.71 million out of which approximately 11.7 million were recorded only in the Euro Area.
In October, the consumer price index (CPI) recorded an annual rate of 7.39%, compared to 7.3% recorded in September. The growth was influenced by the Romanian currency volatility, which lost 3.3% to the European currency. NBR analysts have recently forecast a 6.7% inflation rate for the end of 2008.

According to data provided by the National Agency for Employment (ANOFM), almost half of the 18.000 future unemployed will come from the three mentioned counties. According to the same source, the layoff wave forecast for the coming two months will exceed the number of layoffs made in the first half of the year in the entire economy.
