2009 trend in office sector: companies build their own headquarters

According to the number of construction projects recorded in 2009 on the office segment, 40% were office projects that had as investor even the company that would occupy the space.

At the same time, 2009 was the year when the boom of building office spaces for rent purposes began its decline – the volume of office rent transactions represented only 45% of the volume recorded in 2008.

In terms of new investments 2009 brought the delivery of 400.000 sqm of new office space. Moreover, according to the Investment Report, there were 237 projects under construction and only 196 future projects recorded in the entire year of 2009 in the largest database with construction sites in Romania.

Concerning the hot regions with office space - Bucharest remains the leading region, counting for 25% of the total number of office investments in Romania.
