In the first
9 months of 2008 the total number of companies declared insolvent was
26.649, 50% more than the similar period of the previous year. See below the

Major European energy
companies are willing to pay €3 billion to enter the Romanian electricity
production market, in order to break up the state monopoly in this sector.
The top companies in the energy market according to their turnover
are the same as 10 or even 18 years ago. New entries are recorded by energy
suppliers with businesses developed in the last 6-7 years. But this ranking has
great chances to change in the future, due to projects in the production market
belonging to companies like Petrom, Alro or any other company that intends to attack
the production market.
