If in July 2009 job offers in the construction sector used to weigh 11% from the total offer, in September it went below 10%, meaning less jobs available:
Most of the construction jobs available in September were for unqualified workers – meaning 146 available jobs.
The segment that lost the largest number of
employees is manufacturing industry with more than 180.500 employees off. In exchange,
governmental agencies continued to hire more people even if the Government keep menacing with
firing about 20.000 from state agencies.
In the first 10 months
of local economic recession (October 2008-July 2009) Romania recorded 315.000
unemployed persons which indicates fast speed in labour market contraction –
1000 persons fired/day.

The lack of labor force in the Romanian construction sector used to be one of the biggest problems companies in the market have been confronted to since 2007, when constructions in the country boomed. Even though this economical sector has been affected by economical recession since the last quarter of 2008, Romania continues to encounter the same problem.
According to a Manpower report on the labor force market in Romania there will be 3 sectors that will boost Romanian HR sector in Q3 2009:
IBC Focus conducted an internal analysis in June 2009 on the construction jobs existent on the labor market in May 2009, which bring to life the fact that there were 450 jobs available in the construction sector, which represents 30% of the total number of jobs available in that month.

Despite the financial crisis that affects Romania also, Romanian employers intend to hire people more than firing.And what's even better is that the expectation for firing people in the next trimester are lower than currently. So are there harder times coming for Romania?

Although labour costs have increased significantly this year, Romania remains one of the cheapest destinations from the perspective of labour costs, being exceeded in this regard only by Bulgaria. The best paid Eastern Europeans are the Slovenians, who gain 5.8 euros per hour, followed by the Croats and Czechs, with 5.1 euros/hour.

The local training market is estimated at 50 million Euros annually. According to a research study carried out between 2004 and 2006 by EU experts, a Romanian employee benefits from 5 to 6 training hours annually, the least in the entire Europe.
